We accept students into our programmes at all stages from the first year of Nursery up into the Primary and Secondary Sections.

However, we do not normally accept students into the middle of an IGCSE or A Level programme unless they are transferring from another Cambridge school, following the same courses.

Students join Mother Mary successfully from other international schools, from Rwandan state system schools, or from schools in other countries. The main requirement in Primary and Secondary Sections is a good level of English, as this is the language of instruction in the Cambridge programme.

Normally there are three admission points in the year, at the start of each term (September, January and April). This is to avoid unnecessary disruption to teaching and learning.

The minimum ages for admission into each section are as follows:

  • First year of Nursery. 2 years and 6 months at the beginning of the school year.

  • First year of Primary. 5 years and 6 months at the beginning of the school year.

  • First year of Secondary (Stage 7). 11 years and 6 months at the beginning of the school year.

  • The admission process involves an interview with the student and one or both parents. From Primary Stage 3 upwards, prospective students will also need to sit an entrance test to help us determine the suitability of the candidate and the appropriate Stage of entry.

Admission will be confirmed on the basis of appropriate proof of academic history, and a recommendation from the previous school.

For all admission enquiries. Please get in touch by phone or email or come by to make an appointment. We look forward to showing you what a wonderful school Mother Mary is. Please try to make contact in good time before the start of the next term so all the procedures can be completed.
