Primary Section
The Primary Section lasts for 6 years (Stages P1 to P6). The language of teaching and learning is English, although students continue to study other languages including Kiniyrwanda and French. By the end of the Primary Section, our students should be confident communicators in all three languages. Our Primary programme follows the Cambridge International curriculum. The core of this programme is English, Maths and Sciences. Students are assessed at the end of each year from Stage 3 onwards with standard progression tests. At the end of Stage 6, students sit Cambridge Primary Checkpoint tests in English, Maths and Science; these tests provide useful information about each student’s academic progress, together with areas of strength and areas where they need more support. As in Nursery Section, we work hard to provide learning experiences for our students which are as active and as engaging as possible. We aim to create independent learners who have the determination and skills to organize and reflect on their own learning. The six years of Primary Section provide the best possible preparation for students progressing into our international Secondary programme, leading to Cambridge IGCSE and A level qualifications.
